WEBINARS

Global Transmission is organising 4-5 video interactions/webinars on ‘Power Transmission in Africa: CXO Perspectives’, starting from the week of April 27 until May 8, 2020.

Each video interaction/webinar will be a ‘one-hour stand-alone’ session with a CEO/CXO of a leading African transmission utility.

The session will focus on the utility’s network development and investment plans, key challenges and project progress.

These focused sessions will give an opportunity to hear from the leaders of these utilities in times when travel has become very restricted and it is uncertain when it may open up. We hope that the webinar/video interaction will provide a platform for a very useful exchange of information and ideas.

Schedule of video webinars:

  • Mr Segomoco Scheppers, Group Executive- Transmission, Eskom on April 27 at 10:00 GMT
  • Mr Amoako-Baah, CEO, Ghana Electricity Company (GRIDCo), April 28 at 10:00 GMT

Key topics to be discussed include:

  • Plans for network development and investment in the presenter’s country
  • Key challenges faced by these utilities and their initiative to overcome them
  • Expectations of the utility from suppliers, funding agencies, regulators, etc.
  • Expected short-term and long-term impact of crisis such as COVID-19 on the utility's operations, supply chain, financial performance, and network plans
  • Mechanisms that have been implemented or planned to ensure a continued supply of electricity
