CABEI approves USD50 million loan for Panama-based ETESA

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) has approved a USD50 million loan for the Panamanian electric transmission company Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica, S.A. (ETESA) to provide short-term resources to the latter to initiate the development of high voltage electrical infrastructure.

Italian cable maker Prysmian Group will undertake a USD190 million multi-phased project to upgrade the power transmission system of Washington DC, which will help improve the system reliability, reduce the risk of storm-related outages, expand the network capacity to support the use of solar energy and other customer-generated solutions, as well as support the rapid residential and commercial growth in the region.

Siemens partners with NB Power and NSPI for Smart Grid Atlantic project in Canada

(NSPI), to undertake the Smart Grid Atlantic project, which involves developing and demonstrating smart grid technology to better manage Altantic Canada’s electricity grid and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Abengoa receives USD54 million transmission contract from Chilean Quebrada Blanca

Spanish multilateral corporation Abengoa SA has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Chile-based Compañia Minera Teck Quebrada Blanca S.A., part of the Grupo Teck Mining Inc., for seven 220 kV electrical substations of 220/23 kV and 220/6.9 kV for the second phase of the Quebrada Blanca mine in Chile.

ABB to supply FACTS to Brazilian Furnas

Ukraine’s transmission system operator (TSO) Ukrenergo has signed a EUR19.4 million contract with Chinese Xian Electric Engineering Company Limited for the reconstruction of the 330 kV Brovarska substation.

UK’s National Grid awards GBP80 million contract to Morgan Sindall Infrastructure

The UK’s transmission system operator (TSO) National Grid has awarded a GBP80 million contract to Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, as part of the four-year Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) framework for which it was previously appointed in 2016.

Norway’s Statnett awards EUR44 million contract to Croatian Dalekovod

Norwegian transmission system operator (TSO) Statnett has awarded a contract worth EUR44 million to the Croatian power transmission equipment maker Dalekovod for the construction of a 67-km-long, 420 kV line stretching from Lyse in Forsand, via Seldalsheia in Sandnes, to Fagrafjell on the border between Sandnes and Time in Norway.
