Chilean grid coordinator awards transmission projects in Arica and ChiloƩ [free access]

Coordinador Eléctrico Nacional or National Electricity Coordinator of Chile has awarded four transmission projects located between Arica and Chiloé, worth USD288 million.


Consorcio Red Eléctrica Chile SpA y Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios S.A. has been awarded the contract to construct the 220 kV Pozo Almonte substation; first circuit of the double-circuit Pozo Almonte (proposed) substation–Pozo Almonte (existing) substation transmission line; first circuit of the double-circuit 220 kV Pozo Almonte (proposed) substation–Cóndores substation line; and first circuit of the double-circuit 220 kV Pozo Almonte (proposed) substation–Parinacota substation. These projects are scheduled to come online during 2019 to 2021.


Interconexión Eléctrica S.A.E.P. won the project to set up a new bank of autotransformers of 750 MVA and 500/220 kV at Cardones, Maitencillo and Pan de Azúcar substations by 2020. Consorcio Saesa–Chilquinta won the 220 kV Maitencillo–Punta Colorada–Nueva Pan de Azúcar transmission line project, which is likely to be operational in 2021. Enel Distribución Chile S.A, received the project of sectioning the new 220 kV Lampa substation by 2020.
