Invitation issued for supply of 500 kV autotransformers in Egypt [free access]

Egypt’s Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has invited international competitive bids for the supply of 500 kV autotransformers.


The scope of the contract entails supply of three units of 500/220/22 kV, 1,500 MVA, single-phase autotransformers and one spare phase (seven single-phase autotransformers of 250 MVA, 500/220/22 kV each) along with their accessories, vacuum-type on-load tap changer (OLTC), automatic voltage regulator (AVR), and 22 kV air-insulated bus systems to connect the 22 kV windings of autotransformer phases in Delta outside the transformer tanks (Package B), for the 500/220/22 kV 10th of Ramadan gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation. It also includes engineering, design, fabrication, factory testing, site delivery, loading, unloading of transformers on foundations, supervision of erection, site testing and commissioning, training, insurance till provisional acceptance, warranty and technical assistance during the warranty period. The duration of the contract is 17 months from the date of award, while the deadline for bid submission is June 24, 2017.


Package A of the contract, involving engineering and design works for the 500/220/66/22 kV 10th of Ramadan GIS substation, was recently announced in May 2017. It entails engineering, design, manufacturing, factory testing, site delivery, civil works, erection, testing at site, commissioning, putting in operation, insurance till provisional acceptance, warranty, and training and assistance during the warranty period of the 500 kV substation. The last date for submission of bids for this package is June 20, 2017.


The construction of the 10th of Ramadan GIS substation is being funded by the European Development Partners (EDP) comprising the European Investment Bank (EIB), European Union (EU), Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and KfW Development Bank.
