Wataynikaneyap Power — a licensed transmission company owned by 20 First Nations communities and FortisOntario Incorporated (FortisOntario), a subsidiary of Fortis Incorporated, has filed its application for the Wataynikaneyap Power Transmission Project with the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), for its approval.

USDA advances USD309 million loans for rural electric infrastructure investments

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA), through its Electric Infrastructure Loan and Loan Guarantee programme, has announced USD309 million worth of investment in 16 infrastructure projects for the expansion and refurbishment of rural electric infrastructure across the states of Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, North Carolina, New Mexico, Ohio, South Dakota and Washington.

Panama-based ETESA hosts meeting for Chiriqui Grande–Panama III project tender

Panamanian state-owned electricity transmission company Empresa de Transmision Electrica (ETESA) organised a consultation and standardisation meeting with representatives from companies interested in participating in the tender for the construction of the Chiriqui Grande–Panama III fourth power transmission line on 13 June, 2018. Also known as the fourth line, the project will connect Chiriqui province (located on the western coast) to Panama.

TESUR 2 completes 220 kV Azángaro–Juliaca–Puno line project in Peru

Peru-based Transmisora ​​Eléctrica del Sur 2 (TESUR 2), directly owned by Red Eléctrica del Sur S.A. (Redesur), a subsidiary of Red Eléctrica International (the international branch of Spanish power transmission giant Red Eléctrica de España), has commissioned the 220 kV Azángaro–Juliaca–Puno Transmission Line Project.

IaDB seeks consultants for Brazil–Bolivia grid interconnector [free access]

The Inter-American Development Bank (IaDB), in partnership with Brazilian state-owned power company Centrais Elétricas Brasileiras S.A. (Eletrobras) and Bolivian state energy company Empresa Nacional de Electricidad (ENDE), has issued a request for proposal (RfP) to provide consultancy services to interconnect Brazilian and Bolivian grids.
