AWEA requests policy updates to harness benefits of hybrid energy projects

American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) has stressed the need for the US’ Regional Transmission Operators (RTOs) and Independent System Operators (ISOs) to update their policies, to accommodate the growing number of hybrid renewable energy (RE) and storage projects requesting interconnection to the country’s grid.

The Colombia’s Comisión de Regulación de Energía y Gas (CREG) has opened a consultation for a proposed regulatory modification for the 230 kV interconnection with Ecuador, passing from the Jamondino (Colombia) to Pomasqui (Ecuador).

Capacity enhancement of 66 kV Itauguá–Pirayú line progressing in Paraguay

Bolivian ENDE awards USD10 million contract to Ingener, Siemens [free access]

Bolivian state energy company Empresa Nacional de Electricidad’s (ENDE) subsidiary, ENDE Transmission, has awarded a USD10 million contract to a consortium comprising of Uruguay’s Ingener and German Siemens for the development and commissioning of a 50 MVAr static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) system.

Brazilian ANEEL announces TUST and RAP for 2020-21

Brazilian energy regulator, Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica (ANEEL), announced that the total revenue required to be collected as tariff for the use of the transmission system or the Tarifa de Uso do Sistema de Transmissão (TUST), for the financial cycle (2020-21) will be BRL27.9 billion, effective July 1, 2020.

Elecnor gets EUR11 million line construction contract in Finland

The Spanish infrastructure, energy and telecommunications company, Elecnor, has been awarded a contract worth EUR11.2 million from the Finnish transmission system operator (TSO), Fingrid, to construct a 400 kV transmission line.

Mozambique’s state-owned Electricidade de Mozambique (EDM) and Malawi’s Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi Limited (ESCOM) have invited international competitive bids for the Mozambique–Malawi Transmission Interconnection Project, which is being funded by the World Bank through its Norwegian Trust Fund (NTF).

Egyptian EETC awards EGP143 million substation contract to Siemens

State-owned Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has signed an EGP143 million contract with Siemens Technologies S.A.E (Egyptian unit of the German-based Siemens) for the establishment of the 66/11 kV Bashayer El-Kheir III and V gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation.
