FERC rejects SPP’s proposal to allow transmission operators to pay for PMUs

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has rejected the Southwest Power Pool’s (SPP) proposal to allow transmission owners to pay for the installation of Phasor Measuring Units (PMUs) at the generation stations, stating that this could unfairly lower the connection costs for transmission owners' affiliates, providing them with an undue competitive advantage.

PJM approves USD629 million transmission investment in US

PJM Interconnection has approved 47 transmission projects involving a total investment of approximately USD629 million, in order to address the grid reliability concerns owing to the anticipated retirements of several nuclear power plants, aging infrastructure, and the expected rise in electricity demand across certain areas.

USDA to invest USD345.5 million in rural electricity infrastructure projects

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced the investments of USD345.5 million in 20 rural electricity infrastructure projects across 14 US states – California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota and Wisconsin – through the Electric Infrastructure Loan Program.

Vermont Green Line Devco invites bids for Vermont Green Line project [free access]

Vermont Green Line Devco LLC, a partnership between Green Line Infrastructure Alliance (created by National Grid and Anbaric) and Citizens Energy Corporation, initiated an open solicitation process on August 6, 2018 for the allocation of up to 100 per cent of capacity rights of its proposed 400 MW Vermont Green Line project.
