Canadian BC Hydro awards Site C line contract to Allteck Line Contractors

Canadian BC Hydro has awarded a CAD113 million worth contract for the construction of the transmission lines associated with BC Hydro’s Site C Clean Energy Project, to Allteck Line Contractors Inc. — a subsidiary of Quanta Services of Houston, Texas. The request for proposals (RfPs) for the same was issued in September 2017.

MasTec signs contract agreement to restore electricity grid in Puerto Rico

MasTec Incorporated, a Florida-based infrastructure engineering and construction company, has signed a USD500 million worth master services agreement with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) to complete the restoration of damaged critical electricity components and support the initial phase of reconstruction and modernisation of the electricity grid in Puerto Rico, which suffered severe damages after Hurricane Maria hit the island in September 2017.

UK’s SHE Transmission selects Balfour Beatty for upgradation of 132 kV network

Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission (SHE Transmission) Plc, part of British utility Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), has awarded two contracts worth GBP43.5 million to the UK’s construction company Balfour Beatty for a major upgrade of the north electricity network.

Cobra wins contract to restore transmission grid of Puerto Rico

Cobra Acquisitions LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of US-based Mammoth Energy Services Incorporated, has signed a USD900 million worth one-year contract with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) to complete restoration works on Puerto Rico’s grid, which suffered severe damages after the Hurricane Maria hit the island in September 2017.

Brazilian Energisa SA signs EPC pre-contract with French Omexom for 500/230 kV projects

France-based Omexom—a subsidiary of Vinci Energies, which is in turn a subsidiary of French concessions and construction company Vinci SA, has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) pre-contract with Energisa SA for the Lot 19 the latter recently won during an auction held by Brazil’s energy regulator Agencia Nacional de Energia Eletrica (ANEEL).

CTM receives transmission project contract from PETROPERÚ in Peru

Petróleos del Perú S.A. (PETROPERÚ)—a Peruvian state-owned petroleum company, and Peruvian transmission concessionaire Consorcio Transmantaro (CTM)—a consortium comprising Colombian power utilities Interconexión Eléctrica (ISA) and Empresa de Energía de Bogotá (EEB), have signed a contract to provide electric transmission service for the Talara Refinery Modernization project, for an annual payment of US3.5 million.
