  Colombia’s second largest transmission company Transelca, owned by state-run power grid operator Interconexion Electrica (ISA), has received a COP10 billion loan from Banco de Bogota bank.

• USTDA awards grant to Colombia-based XM

  The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has awarded a USD463,944 subsidy to Colombia’s grid operator XM Compañía de Expertos en Mercados S.A. E.S.P. (XM) to design and implement a smart grid project.

• Brazilian power utility Eletrosul acquires Artemis’ grid assets

• CEEE to receive BRL381 million from BNDES to strengthen Rio Grande de Sul grid

• Spain-based Isolux Corsan receives USD1 billion loan from IDB

• Ecuadorian Hidrosanbartolo receives USD36.4 million loan from IIC

  Ecuadorian firm Hidrosanbartolo has received a USD36.4 million loan from Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) for its 48 MW run-of-the-river hydroelectric plant along the Negro river in southeast Ecuador.

  Brazil’s Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES) or the National Development Bank has approved a USD885 million loan for Interligação Elétrica do Madeira (IE Madeira), a special purpose vehicle of the Madeira Transmissao consortium comprising Companhia de Transmissão de Energia Elétrica Paulista (CTEEP), Furnas and Companhia Hidro Eletrica do Sao Francisco (Chesf) for the implementation of its transmission facilities associated with the Madeira hydro power project (HPP).

• BNDES approves BRL2.3 billion for Jirau HPP

• Brazilian bank extends BRL1 billion loan for HPP lines

  Brazil's national bank Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Economico e Social (BNDES) has approved a BRL1.05 billion loan to Norte Brasil Transmissora de Energia for the construction of the Porto Velho-Araraquara transmission line No. 2 to evacuate power from the 3,450 MW Jirau and 3,150 MW Santo Antonio hydroelectric power plants (HPPs).

• IDB approves technical funds for Andean interconnection

• Transmisora Mejillones receives USD10 million from IIC for Chilean line

  Chilean power transmission firm Transmisora Mejillones has received an approval from the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), a member of the IDB Group, for up to a USD10 million loan for the construction of a 220 kV line in Chile.

• Spanish ACS to sell seven Brazilian transmission assets to China’s SGCC

  Actividades de Construccion & Servicios SA (ACS), a Spanish construction company, has signed an accord to sell its seven high voltage transmission assets in Brazil to China’s biggest network operator State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) in an attempt to reduce debt.
