May 6, 2020

The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on behalf of the state-owned power company JSC Uzbekenergo, has invited international competitive bids for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded 500 kV Guzar–Regar power line between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

The project aims at improving power exchange between the two countries; along with strengthening their respective power grids.

The 63.5-km-long, single-circuit transmission line will start from the 500 kV Guzar substation in the southeastern Uzbek district of Guzar and will end at the 500 kV Regar substation in the town of Regar, located in western Tajikistan.

The competitive bidding for the project will be conducted in accordance with the ADB's 'single-stage, one-envelope' bidding procedure. The project is expected to be completed within 12 months of the winning contract coming into effect.

The last date for the submission of bids is June 17, 2020.
