Indian L&T secures upto INR25 billion T&D contracts in global markets [free access]

Indian engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) major, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), has bagged transmission and distribution (T&D) contracts across the domestic and international market. According to the company, the total value of the awarded contracts is estimated at around INR25 billion.

 

In the international market, the company has bagged a contract for the design, supply and construction of a 220 kV substation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

 

Another contract is for the EPC of 367-km-long, 400 kV overhead transmission line (OHTL) connecting the towns of Chimuara and Alto Molocue in Mozambique. The line is part of the Second Chimuara–Nacala Power Transmission Project or the Caia–Nacala Transmission Project, which is being funded by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).

 

In the domestic power T&D business, the company has secured a contract for modernising the distribution network in the Gurugram Smart City project in the north Indian state of Haryana. Under the contract, existing 11 kV distribution network will be converted into underground cable (UGC) network.

 

The second contract is for the construction of 765 kV and 400 kV lines, for the evacuation of power from the wind power plants in Gujarat in India.
