Developers energise Multi-Value Project 7 connecting Iowa and Missouri [free access]

July 9, 2019

The Multi-Value Project 7 (MVP 7), which connects substations in Ottumwa, Iowa and Adair, Missouri, has been energised. It included construction of a 345 kV, 80-mile (129-km), high voltage regional transmission line that links southeastern Iowa and northeastern Missouri. MidAmerican Energy, ITC Midwest and Ameren Transmission Company (ATC) jointly constructed the project.

In addition to improving transmission access for wind energy generation, the project will help in relieving congestion on other high-voltage transmission lines and increasing efficiency on the electric grid by reducing energy production costs.

The project is a part of the 17 MVPs approved by the Midcontinent Independent Transmission System Operator (MISO) in 2011, as a long-term regional energy grid enhancement plan.
