Chilean Transelec secures USD375 million for three projects [free access]

Chilean power transmission firm Transelec SA has secured USD375 million to finance the development of three transmission projects. The financing includes a series of contracts and agreements signed with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), Export Development Canada, and KfW Bankengruppe (KFW) IPEX-Bank GmbH. As a condition for obtaining this financing, Transelec has granted all its rights, flows and assets, in favor of such creditors, as a guarantee.


The projects that will be funded though this financing are the 500 kV, 197-km, Nueva Charrúa–Charrúa Transmission Line project, which includes construction of the Nueva Charrúa substation, the Nueva Charrúa–Charrúa line and sectioning of Charrúa–Ancoa 1 and 2 lines; the 500 kV, 140-km, Pichirropulli-Puerto Montt line, which includes construction of double-circuit 500 kV transmission line, along the path of an existing 220 kV line; the 500 kV, 145-km, Los Changos–Nuevo Crucero Encuentro line and associated autotransformer banks of 500/220 kV, 2x750 MVA capacity, and the 220 kV Los Changos–Kapatur line.
