Brazilian Furnas plans to invest BRL510 million in transmission assets [free access]

Brazilian energy firm Furnas Centrais Elétricas SA (Furnas) – a subsidiary of state-owned energy firm Centrais Elétricas Brasileiras S.A. (Eletrobras), has confirmed its plan to invest BRL510 million to improve its energy transmission assets in the state of Sao Paulo. The main investment will be in five transmission lines for the Itaipu plant and will be carried out over the next four years. The majority of funds will go to improving substations. Funds will also be invested in auxiliary lines that are put into use when there is a fault in the main line.
