NGCP awards USD20 million transformer contract to Dutch Royal SMIT [free access]

July 31, 2018

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP)—the private concessionaire of the country's transmission network, has awarded a transformer supply contract worth USD20 million to Dutch Royal SMIT Transformers BV.

The contract will involve the supply of extra high voltage (EHV) autotransformers for the upcoming Pagbilao EHV substation in the Philippines' Quezon province.

The substation project, which is currently in the initial construction phase, was approved by the Philippines’ Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) in February 2017.

The PHP3.6 million substation will allow the connection of the four power plants—420 MW Pagbilao coal-fired power plant (CFPP) expansion; San Buenaventura Power Private Limited’s (SBPL) 500 MW coal-fired power plant; 3x200 MW Energy World using Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG); and the 1,200 MW Atimonan CFPP.
