Hartburg−Sabine Junction Transmission Project, US [free access]

March 7, 2018

Developer: To be decided

Project details and status: The 500 kV Hartburg−Sabine Junction transmission project has been planned to relieve system congestion in East Texas and is included in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator’s (MISO) Transmission Expansion Plan (MTEP) 2017.

In February 2018, MISO declared the 500 kV project to be a market efficiency project, making it eligible for its competitive selection process. Later the same month it issued the request for proposals (RfPs) for the project with a deadline of July 20.

The USD130 million project includes the construction of a 500 kV line and a new substation in East Texas. It also entails connecting the existing Sabine−McFadden and Sabine−Nederland transmission lines to the new substation. The actual line length and the final route will be decided on the basis of the selected proposal, which is likely to be announced by the end of 2018, with the expected commissioning by 2023.
