India’s POWERGRID plans to bid for transmission projects in Brazil [free access]

Indian grid developer Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) is planning to bid for transmission concession contracts in Brazil in the upcoming auction slated to take place in December 2017.

 

POWERGRID plans to bid for around two-three lots out of 11 lots being tendered by the government of Brazil. It is presently waiting to formalise a local partner who will be registered in Brazil to undertake the execution work, as the bids have to be submitted in December 2017.

 

Under the auction to be held on December 15, 2017, a total of 11 lots will be offered for projects in the states of Bahia, Ceará, Minas Gerais, Para, Paraíba, Paraná, Piauí, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte and Tocantins. Under these projects, a total of 4,919 km of transmission line and 10,416 MVA of substation transformation capacity will be built in Brazil.

 

In addition, POWERGRID is also open to similar opportunities in other countries, such as Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and other Southeast Asian countries.
