October 4, 2017

Peru has set a target of 100 per cent rural electrification by 2021, which would require new transmission lines, rural systems and solar photovoltaic (PV) modules. The estimated investment to completely close the electrification gap in Peru is estimated at USD1.048 billion and will benefit 2.9 million Peruvians.

As per the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM), work for the Aguaitía to Pucallpa line will start soon; and will be awarded for the Mantaro to Nueva Yanango to Carapongo line in October and for the Tintaya to Azángaro transmission line in November. These projects will require more than USD570 million worth of investment.
