Nepal proposes cross-border transmission lines with China [free access]

August 7, 2017

The Nepal government has sent a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) to the Chinese government for the joint development of cross-border transmission lines between the two countries.

The MoU follows Nepal’s proposal to China in March 2016 to develop 400 kV transmission lines at the Rashuwagadi–Kerung border point. A final decision from the Chinese government regarding the draft MoU is pending. Once it is finalised, the MoU will be signed during high-level visits between the two countries.
